2020 NZ CLUB CHAMPS CANCELLED

It's a disappointing reality for our CD top club Napier Technical Old Boys that there will be no shot at a national trophy threepeat at the NZCT National Club Cricket Championship this summer.

The annual quest to crown New Zealand's top club - won by CD representatives the Texans for the past two years - was due to be played early this April, but the tournament has today been cancelled by hosts Cornwall Cricket Club as the cricket community responds accordingly to expert medical advice regarding Covid-19.

The 2020 tournament was to have been the debut of the competition's new T20 format, and defending New Zealand champions Napier Tech had once again qualified from the CD catchment to earn a shot a rare three national titles in a row.

Said the tournament organisers today, "We understand the disappointment and inconvenience this might cause, but our priority is the health and wellbeing of the cricketing and wider community during this unique and rapidly evolving situation."
