THE AIMEE WATKINS TROPHY

Born in the 2022/23 season, this is one of the newest trophies contested in the CD region - a short-format girls' secondary schools contest that brings together annual finalists from across our eight Districts

The Aimee Watkins Trophy is named after the Central Hinds' and WHITE FERNS' legendary captain, a Taranaki Sports Hall of Famer

2026 TOURNAMENT


The 2025/26 season Aimee Watkins Trophy takes place from Tuesday 24 to Thursday 26 March at Palmerston North's Ongley Park


Played in the T20 format, entries open to all schools within the CD region early in the season, including schools in Nelson and Marlborough. Schools can enter either the Aimee Watkins Trophy or the CD Secondary School Girls' First XI Cup but not both competitions in the same season


The teams who have made it through to the Finals tournament this March are:

• MARLBOROUGH GIRLS' COLLEGE Blenheim

• NGA TAWA DIOCESAN SCHOOL Marton

• A bespoke COMBINED XI from the Manwatū and Horowhenua-Kāpiti Districts

2025 TOURNAMENT


The 2024/25 summer's AIMEE WATKINS TROPHY competition was held at Palmerston North's Ongley Park on 25 and 26 March 2025


The final four schools were:

• NGA TAWA DIOCESAN SCHOOL Marton


Congratulations to PARAPARAUMU COLLEGE who locked up the trophy unbeaten, unable to be caught ahead of the last day!


2022/23

Inaugural season!

This competition began in the 2022/23 season with two teams from Wairarapa and two teams from Manawatū proceeding to the first Finals day.

The 2023 Aimee Watkins Trophy Finalists were:

2023/24


Six teams competed in The Aimee Watkins Trophy Finals, the competition expanded to include two sides from Whanganui in the second edition.

The Finals were played at Wallace and Ongley Parks, Palmerston North on 13 March 2024
