STAGS SELECTORS EYE UP CD A

With the Central Stags’ round one Ford Trophy to be named following the conclusion of two CD A fixtures in Taupo this week, there’s plenty riding on the two white-ball matches taking place today and tomorrow against Northern Districts A.

Recent white-ball Central Stags reps Josh Clarkson, Kieran Noema-Barnett (returning from a side strain), Christian Leopard, Felix Murray, Bayley Wiggins and Ma'ara Ave have all been named in the CD A squad.

Ray Toole will also join up with the group for the second fixture tomorrow — the 22-year-old left-armer fresh off his impressive first two Plunket Shield matches for the Stags in red-ball cricket.

CDCA Manager, High Performance Lance Hamilton said while injuries and work commitments were a factor in the composition of the CDA fixtures, it was pleasing to name a strong squad for the twin midweek white-ball matches.

Both games are being hosted by ND at Owen Delaney Park, while the Stags will commence their one-day Ford Trophy summer against Canterbury at Palmerston North’s Fitzherbert Park from 11am this Sunday.

Tickets to the #FillTheFitz #FordTrophy match will be available at the gate on the day with the Stags keen to replicate their exciting, big-scoring win over the same side in Palmy two seasons ago.

The Central Hinds meanwhile will also commence their one-day summer this weekend, with Rounds One & Two of their Hallyburton Johnstone Shield defence against the Otago Sparks at home at Levin’s Donnelly Park this Saturday and Sunday (free entry to both matches, from 10am).
