CDCA is celebrating a newly contracted WHITE FERN with Napier 20-year-old ROSEMARY MAIR one of two New Zealand players to be offered WHITE FERNS contracts for the first time today.

The Central Hinds pace bowler joins Auckland opening batsman Lauren Down as one of two debutantes on NZC’s 2019/20 contracts list — the top 17 players in the country.

Today’s contracts announcement also sees Central Hinds star allrounder HANNAH ROWE, 22, retaining her WHITE FERNS contract for an exciting season with the national side that culminates in the ICC 2020 World Cup in Australia.

Also noted is the return of Wellington Blaze powerhouse Rachel Priest and new Auckland Hearts captain Anna Peterson who bring more than 200 international caps of experience between them to the contracted WHITE FERNS squad.

Rosemary sees her first national contract as a chance to further develop her bowling — having broken into the WHITE FERNS last season with her consistent line and length.

“I want to bowl fast, so my training will be centred around that. And, working with bowling coach Jacob Oram to get the best out of my action,” Rosemary said.

“I’m excited for what’s ahead — this contract gives me resources and time to really commit and focus my energy on cricket.”

Central Districts CEO Pete de Wet congratulated Rosemary and Hannah on their WHITE FERNS contracts for the coming season.

“After a stunning Hallyburton Johnstone Shield season last summer and Rosemary’s exciting debut international performances for the WHITE FERNS, we are thrilled to see another young Central Hind stepping up to the top echelon of contracted players.

“CDCA is deeply committed to enhancing the player pathway for our female cricketers and — whilst we hope to see several more Central Hinds representing the WHITE FERNS this summer — we are very proud to see both Hannah and Rosemary flying the green flag in the WHITE FERNS as part of the contracted squad."

The WHITE FERNS will host South Africa here in New Zealand before the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia next year. The team is currently at a spring training camp at the NZC High Performance Centre in Lincoln which runs until Wednesday 2 October.
