Twenty-year-old Nelson cricketer Claudia Green is set to make her debut in the Central Hinds as New Zealand’s revamped Burger King Super Smash competition gets underway this week. 

Right-arm allrounder Green, who impressed in the national Women’s Under-21 Tournament won by Central Districts last summer and was recently appointed Nelson Cricket’s inaugural Female Development Officer, is one of two new faces in the first Hinds T20 squad of the season, along with experienced former Northern Spirit and WHITE FERNS top order batsman Natalie Dodd.

Dodd has swapped her northern pink for green after 11 seasons with Northern Spirit and will also take the wicketkeeping gloves for the season as Kerry Tomlinson reverts to a specialist batsman role. The pair of former Northern reps will go up against their old teammates in the first round at New Zealand Cricket’s High Performance Centre in Lincoln tomorrow.

Fans of the Central Hinds’ social media will be delighted to hear that Kate Baxter returns to the Central Hinds after a year overseas with Baxter and Hannah Rowe’s entertaining pitch reports a regular highlight.

The youthful team enters its second season under coach Jamie Watkins, with former Central Hinds representative Lisa Grant the team’s manager.
