Taila Hurley in line for Central Hinds debut

After her impressive form in the championship-winning CD Under-21 team that stormed its way to this season’s national title, Taranaki teenager Taila Hurley will be in line to make her Central Hinds debut tomorrow after being named today in the squad to spar with the Auckland Hearts in Palmerston North over the next three days of national competition.

Named in the senior representative squad for the first time, Hurley, the 17-year-old daughter of former Central Hinds representative Gill Hurley (a CD rep from 1989 to 1993), has been making CD rep sides ever since she was 11, batting right-handed and bowling right-arm off-break.

The squad also features the return of Wairarapa Koru Esther Lanser who returns for Nelson’s Kate Stiven after the previous rounds in Lincoln.

The youthful Hinds head into their first match of the new year having won one from three in the T20 format, while the strong Hearts squad sits second on the table having gone two from three.

The T20 action is followed by a weekend of back-to-back Hallyburton Johnston Shield action against the one-day competition front-runners, Round Seven beginning at 10.30am on Saturday and Round Eight at the slightly earlier time of 10am, both home matches again at Palmerston North’s Fitzherbert Park.
