ROSE FOR THE ROSE BOWL

CENTRAL HINDS seamer ROSEMARY MAIR is set to play her first ODI Series for the WHITE FERNS in two years after the squad was revealed for the upcoming three-match Rose Bowl against Australia at the Cello Basin Reserve.

But the great news for Rosemary Mair is tempered by the exclusion of longtime teammate HANNAH ROWE as the selectors opt for Auckland Heart Molly Penfold and bring in uncapped Otago Sparks top order bat Bella James for the injured Georgia Plimmer.

Having starred at the recent T20 World Cup as the tournament's second highest wicket-taker - helping the WHITE FERNS to lift the coveted trophy, Mair should have plenty of opportunity to make an impression in an attack that's also missing injured Lea Tahuhu.

All three matches in the relaunched traditional series against our Tasman rivals will be played at Wellington's Cello Basin Reserve starting on Thursday this week, hot on the heels of the last Hallyburton Johnstone Shield round before Christmas, which sees the Hinds looking to go two from two against the Canterbury Magicians at Pukekura Park.

Yesterday's 55-run win was a special one for the team, not only propelling them back into the national top three, but delivering a maiden Central Hinds and List A century for KERRY TOMLINSON and maiden five-wicket bag for FLORA DEVONSHIRE.

Devonshire also combined with Tomlinson to smash the Hinds' sixth wicket partnership record with a new mark of 123 (overtaking a near-decade old record held by Hannah Rowe and Kelly Rangi) while the Hinds' total of 273/8 after having been sent in was the team's highest ever total in one-dayers against the Canterbury Magcians.

Round Six begins at 10.30am today with free admission in New Plymouth to see the Hinds' last game before the Dream11 Super Smash kicks off for 2024/25.
