From Wankhede Stadium to Saxton Oval.
Fresh off the BLACKCAPS’ historic sweep of India the Test series in India, star spinner AJAZ PATEL will be on show for the Central Stags for the next four days in Stoke.
It’s a great chance for Nelson cricket fans to see the maestro up close, with free admission every day for round two of the Plunket Shield national championship, in which the Stags will be hosting Canterbury at their Nelson home ground.
Patel is the only change in the Stags squad since the team’s outstanding first-round win in Napier last week, coming in for opening paceman Brett Randell who suffered a hamstring strain during that match.
With five spin options included in the twelve - Patel joining Jayden Lennox, Angus Schaw, Brad Schmulian and captain Tom Bruce in the slow-bowlers' group, that could spell a first-class debut for uncapped 20-year-old Hawke’s Bay paceman, Tyler Annand.
All will be revealed at toss time tomorrow, 10am, Tuesday 19 November at Saxton Oval where the Stags will be looking to add to a solid start to their season - currently perched in second spot on the ladder, just one point below early leader Northern Districts.
There are a maximum 20 points available per match and the team is fired up for their only four-dayer at the showstopping Nelson venue this season. The Stags last won the history-laden Plunket Shield trophy at this very ground two seasons ago.
With Canterbury captain Cole McConchie unavailable for this round for family reasons, Stags skipper Bruce will be tossing the coin with a newly anointed Canterbury skipper, Rhys Mariu, while big BLACKCAPs paceman Will O’Rourke will also be on show for the visiting Canterbury side.
Brothers Jack Boyle (Central Stags) and Matt Boyle (Canterbury) are also set to resume their sibling rivalry.
The match has a scheduled start time of 10.30am each day, weather permitting, and livescoring and a free livestream at www.cdcricket.co.nz
