Young Central Stags allrounder JOEY FIELD has stepped up to captain the Central Districts A men's squad for the first time.
The team has headed to Taupō for the annual T20 Quadrangular Tournament, with Field leading the squad in the three tournament T20s as well as a standalone one-dayer that will be contested on Wednesday at the same venue, Owen Delany Park, against Canterbury A.
Field leads a strong group that includes Central Stags GREG HAY, ANGUS SCHAW, TOBY FINDLAY and BRETT JOHNSON, as well as TAYLOR BETTELHEIM fresh off his century on debut for the side in the first A fixture of the season.
The team defeated Northern Districts A in a three-run thriller to open their account in Taupō, Findlay having a fine all-round game with quick runs and a five-wicket bag - including a T20 hat-trick.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) CD A plays Otago A from 10.30am in Round Two, followed by the last round at 2.30PM against Auckland A.
Wednesday's one-dayer against Canterbury A also begins at 10.30am, with all the livescores here at www.cdcricket.co.nz
