NATALIE DODD can't stop scoring half centuries, and her team is loving her work.
With yet another bat wave last night at Hagley Oval, captain Dodd has now scored four half centuries in this season's Dream11 Super Smash - a new Hinds record for most T20 half tons in one summer; and she scored a one-day half century in between, in the Nelson HBJ.
In her 16th season, the elegant veteran's rich vein of form has produced a T20 career best knock of 78 not out against the star-studded Wellington Blaze, and she's averaging 46.00 from her eight innings.
Nationally, only Suzie Bates (Otago Sparks) and Katie Perkins (Auckland Hearts) have scored more T20 fifties in one summer with five, so with two rounds to play, another record is potentially on the table should Dodd do it again in Dunedin or Hamilton.
Both the Central Hinds and Central Stags are unchanged as they head into their penultimate round of the Dream11 Super Smash regular season in Otago tomorrow, with the Stags still able to qualify for this season's Finals
The luckless Hinds were out of contention even before their 25-run DLS loss to the Canterbury Magicians at Hagley Oval, while the Stags remain in a tight race for qualification at the business end of the season after losing to the Kings yesterday, with five teams effectively duelling for three spots in a tight bunch.
The Stags are just two points behind the new leaders the Kings and, while teams up north will be fretting over wet weather, the Stags at least have their next result in their own hands. with a fine forecast for Dunedin tomorrow.
ROSS TAYLOR remains sidelined by an injury sustained in practice in Christchurch.
Both the Central Stags and Hinds matches tomorrow are live and on demand at SPARK Sport, with the Hinds game also on free to air TV One, with livescoring at www.cdcricket.co.nz.
