POTENTIAL DEBUTS FOR NELSON HBJ

One-day cricket returns to Nelson this Sunday with the Central Hinds playing the Otago Sparks in Hallyburton Johnstone Shield from 10.30am.

It's just the third time that the Hinds have played women's List A cricket at the ground, after hosting their historic first two one-dayers at their Nelson home ground in October 2021.

Those matches happened to also be against the Otago Sparks with the Hinds yet to get a win on Saxton after two tough losses on that occasion, followed by a close 4-wicket loss to the same team in yesterday's ground-breaking first women's Dream11 Super Smash T20 at the ground.

So the mission is clear for the Hinds: turn a tough season around as they head into their first HBJ match of the 2023 calendar year with one win, one washout and two losses from four rounds in their favourite longer format.

Wairarapa's OCEAN BARTLETT and Hawk'es Bay's FLORA DEVONSHIRE have both been named in the one-day squad for the first time with at least one debut on the cards, while EMILY CUNNINGHAM and ASHTUTI KUMAR join the squad for Sunday, after yesterday's Dream11 Super Smash showcase in front of a big Saxton Oval crowd.

HANNAH ROWE departs Nelson ahead of today's match as she heads off to link up with the WHITE FERNS T20 World Cup squad that will shortly begin prep for South Africa while KATE GAGING also makes way from yesterday's Dream11 Super Smash game in which HBJ captain and 150-game one-day veteran NATALIE DODD continued her strong form this season with yet another T20 half century.

Dodd has scores of 60, 78 not out, 29 and 59 from her last four T20 innings and will be looking for support from the rest of the order against the dangerous Otago Sparks.

The match is FREE admission with the first ball at 10.30am and livescores here at www.cdcricket.co.nz
