Central Hinds ROSEMARY MAIR and HANNAH ROWE have both been named in the WHITE FERNS squad that will play world T20 champions Australia in Napier - in a BLACKCAPS T20 doubleheader with Bangladesh that evening - a week from today.
The big series kicks off this Sunday evening at Seddon Park before the teams travel to Napier for the second T20 of the series on Tuesday, the WHITE FERNS in action from 3PM followed by the BLACKCAPS under lights - your ticket buying you access to both International T20 games.
Full WHITE FERNS & BLACKCAPS schedule
It's a short, sharp three-match T20i Series for the WHITE FERNS who will need to hit the ground running against the explosive Australian women.
For Mair it will be another exciting opportunity - the first time the seamer has a chance to play a match for the WHITE FERNS at her home ground, McLean Park in Hawke's Bay, against some familiar players after her debut WBBL Series in Australia earlier this summer.
For allrounder Rowe - who chalked up her 100th List A match in the WHITE FERNS' 3rd ODI against England last month, while Mair reached 50 List A appearances in the final weekend of the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield this season, it will also be an opportunity to play her first T20 International on the Hinds' Napier home ground - Rowe having previously stepped out in just one ODI here against India two seasons ago.
The WHITE FERNS' T20i doubleheader series is followed by a three-match ODI Series, all the one-dayers being played at Mount Maunganui's BAY OVAL on April 4, 7 and 10. Rowe has been named for the squad for the first match only, and Mair for the whole series.
WHITE FERNS Head Coach Bob Carter said the tour represented a great opportunity.
“We’re up for the challenge against Australia,” he said.
“To be the best, you have to beat the best and we know we’re going to have to be at the very top of our game.”
