BLACKCAPS BACK FOR CENTRAL STAGS

Fresh off an ODI whitewash of England, BLACKCAPS Will Young and Blair Tickner will join the Central Stags for tomorrow’s first away one-dayer of the season in Dunedin.

The Stags now have one win and one loss from The Ford Trophy so far to sit in a midtable bunch, while their opponent the Otago Volts have yet to get on the board.

The international returnees see Angus Schaw drop back out of the twelve, after having carried the drinks on Thursday in New Plymouth while Tickner was whistled away.

Form batter Curtis Heaphy meanwhile joins the injured list after having pulled a hamstring in the doomed chase against Northern Districts on Thursday.

Heaphy had top-scored for the Stags with an unbeaten 58* and was involved in a much needed eighth-wicket stand of 73* with Ajaz Patel (38 off 33) when he had to retire hurt.

Pace star Tickner is coming off back-to-back Player of the Match performances for the BLACKCAPS, and there will be plenty of interest in whether he is retained for the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies - which will see a day/night match in his home town of Napier at McLean Park on 19 November.

Before then, the BLACKCAPS head into a T20 International contest with the same visitors, and will play two of those T20is in CD territory at Nelson’s Saxton Oval next Sunday and Monday.

Spectators interested in hospitality lounge access at Napier are urged to secure the last available tickets now - click here for all your options.

The Stags’ match in Dunedin tomorrow is scheduled for a 10.30am start with livescores and a free livestream here at cdcricket.co.nz
