GAGING, ATKINSON JOIN NZC PROGRAMME

Two CD candidates, both CENTRAL HINDS representatives, have been selected for NZC's PATHWAY TO PERFORMANCE programme as they look to keep helping others to follow in their footsteps.

CENTRAL HINDS representatives GEORGIA ATKINSON (Wairarapa) and KATE GAGING (Nelson) have a strong interest in coaching  - both have been leading Community coaching and participation initiatives like Yeah! Girls in their local regions, and the Pathway To Performance programme offers them a chance to further focus and develop those coaching skills to coach at a higher level.

The Pathway to Performance - Women in Coaching Programme is a national initiative from NZC that aims to provide development opportunities specifically to women coaches currently coaching at Community level, and have aspirations to move into performance coaching roles in future.

The nine-month programme connects women coaches across Aotearoa, providing learning and development opportunities through NZC's wider cricket delivery programme, as well as ongoing support from the NZC Coach Development team and Women’s Performance team

Since NZC’s inaugural Pathway To Performance programme in the 2022/23 season, 18 coaches have graduated nationwide - many of whom are now coaching within performance environments in their Major and District Associations.

PTP GRADUATES KERRY TOMLINSON AND AMY FOREMAN

Previous intakes have included Central Hind KERRY TOMLINSON (Hawke's Bay) and Taranaki coach AMY FOREMAN, last summer.

Foreman was enabled to step up as Assistant Coach of the Central Districts U19 Women's team, as well as Head Coach for the Taranaki Year 11-13 Girls team.

Tomlinson served as Central Districts U19 Women's Head Coach, NZ Māori Schoolgirls Coach, and had an opportunity to travel to an ICC tournament in the Pacific as Samoa Women Head Coach, an appointment made in a collaboration between NZC and the Samoa International Cricket Association.

The programme is now in its third year and includes opportunities to learn from guest speakers, an in-person residential placement, mentorship and practical coaching opportunities.

The programme also offers coach observation and feedback from NZC’s Coach Development team to gauge and improve how the coaches operate in the field.

CDCA congratulates Georgia Atkinson and Kate Gaging on their acceptance into this season's programme. Coaching placements will be slotted around playing commitments.
