CD RANGATAHI REPRESENT AOTEAROA MĀORI SCHOOLBOYS

Four Central Districts players have been named in this year's NZC Aotearoa Māori Schoolboys squad for the second edition of the annual NZC Rangatahi Cricket Festival.

CD U19, CD Māori, Manawatū and Palmerston North Boys' High rep JEROME ROBINSON has been named to captain the squad that includes two of his teammates from the first ever CD Māori squad that competed at the inaugural senior nationals in Whangārei at Easter last year, Wairarapa College's SAMUEL PAYNE and Hawke's Bay's Napier Boys' High allrounder CHARLIE PAWSON.

Nelson rising star BRYN THURLOW, from Waimea College, rounds out the CD quartet in the national Māori Schoolboys squad that will be playing a Pasifika Schoolboys selection in a series of T20s beginning this morning, Wednesday 31 January, at Auckland's Cornwall Park.

The celebration of cricket and culture began with a pōwhiri (traditional Māori welcome) and opening ceremony at Ōrākei Marae on Tuesday, followed by a cultural performance evening on Thursday for all attending players.
